Thursday's offer
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Petr Altrichter, the principal conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra since September last year, is bringing the orchestra to the Royal Festival Hall next Monday (6 April) for their first appearance in the capital together. RFH audiences may already be familiar with Altrichter - he stepped in as a late replacement for Mariss Jansons last year with LPO. A successor to a fellow countryman Libor Pesek, Altrichter has been developing a Czech theme in the orchestra's programming and is now keen to explore new avenues with the RLPO, in particular Russian music. To that end, next Monday's concert will feature Shostakovich's mammoth 10th Symphony as well as Beethoven's Leonora Overture No.3 and Mozart's Piano Concerto No 23 with Martin Roscoe.
In conjunction with the RLPO, The Independent is able to offer to the first 20 callers (RFH Box Office 0171 960 4242) a pair of free tickets for the concert along with a Virgin CD of the works of contemporary Czech composer Novak performed by the RLPO with Libor Pesek. Any subsequent callers will be able to purchase half-price tickets for the concert.
