A parallel exhibition at the Hulton Getty Picture Gallery, includes never-before-seen images of Lena Horne, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong (above), Miles Davis and Billie Holliday. The oldest picture, of Cab Calloway, dates to 1934.
