From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. From hatching out of an egg at the 2011 Grammy's to riding a human-operated horse at the American Music Awards in 2013, Lady Gaga is no stranger to grand entrances, and this year’s SAG Awards were no different.
While her arrival on the red carpet didn’t involve a spectacle as gregarious as previous years, it still managed to send fans into disarray on social media.
As Gaga made her way along the red carpet, she crossed paths with fellow singer-come-actor Ricky Martin, but instead of simply passing each other by, the pair used the opportunity to pose up a storm for the cameras.
The resulting images quickly went viral on social media with fans calling for the two to work together.
“This little monster is Livin' La Vida Loca,” one person wrote.
Another added: “Name a more iconic duo, we’ll wait.”
A third person commented: “A musical starring Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin is something I never knew I needed until today.”
Martin also shared one of the images on his Instagram account, alongside the caption: “La Vie En WHITE” at the @sagawards with her!”
Both stars chose to wear white for the occasion: Gaga in an ivory frayed taffeta gown from Dior’s latest Haute Couture collection, and Martin in a colour-blocked white suit jacket and black trousers.
Though the pair have yet to work together, they do share a connection through director and screenwriter Ryan Murphy.
While Gaga has appeared in two seasons of American Horror Story, Martin starred in American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace.
