Your support makes all the difference.Ryan Reynolds has launched a new bottle of his Aviation American Gin to help parents who are teaching their children at home amid the coronavirus pandemic.
On Thursday, the Deadpool actor shared a commercial for Aviation American Gin: Home School Edition on Instagram.
In the ad, which sees Reynolds sitting at a desk with an apple, books and other school supplies, he explains that the new variation is “just like the classic delicious Aviation Gin that you love but with more ounces”.
“It’s back to school time, which this year has a whole new meaning," Reynolds says in the commercial. "That's why today I’m introducing Aviation American Gin: Home School edition. It’s just like the classic delicious Aviation Gin that you love but with more ounces.”
But, according to Reynolds, the new bottle of gin has other qualities as well, such as the ability to help with a “variety of subjects”.
"It can help with a variety of subjects: fourth-grade geography, whatever the f*** new math is, and revisiting your own, long-forgotten middle school traumas," he jokes.
The commercial, which the actor captioned: “Aviation Home School edition. Official sponsor of Parent-Gin conferences,” concludes with the sound of a school bell ringing, prompting Reynolds to add: “Middle school is the f***ing worst.”
The release of Reynold’s newest product was met with appreciation on Instagram, where fellow celebrities shared their approval.
“You’re amazing,” Jason Momoa commented alongside numerous laughing emojis.
Robert Liefeld, the creator of Deadpool, wrote: “Omigosh the best!!”
Parents and teachers applauded the new product as well, with one person writing: “As a middle school science teacher - I hear you.”
“Is that the one day version?” someone else joked.
While the actor’s commercial may have been satirical, he confirmed that the larger gin bottle was, in fact, real on his Instagram Stories.
Sharing a screenshot of the $60, 1.75L bottle on the Reserve Bar website, Reynolds wrote: “Yup. It’s a real thing.”
The actor’s latest addition to Aviation Gin comes after he jokingly apologised to his friends and family after selling the liquor company for a reported $610m in August.
In the deal’s terms, it stated European beverage company Diageo will be acquiring Reynolds’ spirits company for an initial payment of $335m and “a further potential consideration of up to $275m based on the performance of Aviation American Gin over a 10-year period.”
In an out-of-office email sent at the time, Reynolds apologised for telling numerous people to “go f*** themselves in the last 24 hours” after learning “what an ‘earn-out’ is”.
