In the TV special, which aired on ITV and CBS earlier this month, Meghan addressed a tabloid story claiming she had made Kate cry in a disagreement over bridesmaid dresses ahead of her and Harry’s wedding in 2018.
Meghan told Oprah that "the reverse happened", and that Kate had apologised to her and "owned it", giving her a note and flowers to "take accountability".
"A few days before the wedding [Kate] was upset about the flower girl dresses and it made me cry," the Duchess of Sussex said.
Meghan said Kate was "a good person" and that she didn’t tell the anecdote to "be disparaging" about her but knew that the Duchess of Cambridge would want false stories corrected.

Penny Juror, biographer of both William and Harry, said William has been "very protective" of his wife since the interview.
"William is very protective of Kate and can get very angry," she told People magazine. "For Meghan to name Kate in a negative light is worse than being attacked himself."
Earlier this week, royal expert Katie Nicholls claimed that Kate was unhappy with Meghan’s claims and that she would never have wanted the issue to be brought up in public again.
“From what I hear, there are different versions of the bridesmaid story, not just the one Meghan discussed,” Nicholls told OK! Magazine.
“Kate felt it was all sorted, so to have it brought up again was mortifying. Kate is not in a position to respond and Meghan and Harry know that.”
Nicholls added that Kate has “never wanted” reports of a rift with Meghan to be published in the press.
“Kate is so discreet and respects her personal life,” she continued.
“You never hear about her falling out with anyone because she is very careful with how she treats others. Kate and William both feel they were hugely welcoming to Meghan and Harry.”
