The Duchess of Sussex is said to be “upset” that no one from the royal family has reached out to her since the bombshell Oprah interview aired.

In the interview, which aired last week, Meghan said that she had “methodical” thoughts about taking her own life while in the royal family, but claimed she was denied help after approaching senior palace staff.

The former Suits star also alleged there were “concerns” raised during her pregnancy about “how dark” the skin of her and Prince Harry’s baby might be.

In response to the interview, Buckingham Palace issued a statement on behalf of the Queen explaining that the whole family was “saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan” and that issues raised would “addressed by the family privately”.

Now, TV presenter Gayle King has revealed that, after speaking with Meghan and Harry at the weekend, the duchess is waiting to hear from the royal family.

“I think what is still upsetting to them is the palace keep saying they want to work it out privately, but yet, they believe these false stories are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan, still,” King said on CBS This Morning on Tuesday.

“No one in the royal family has talked to Meghan yet, at this particular time.

“And I think it’s frustrating for them to see that it’s a racial conversation about the royal family when all they wanted all along was for the royals to intervene and tell the press to stop with the unfair, inaccurate, false stories that definitely have a racial slant.”

Gayle continued: “And until you can acknowledge that, I think it’s going to be hard to move forward. But they both want to move forward with this and they both want healing in this family.”

The comments come after Prince William said that the royal family is “very much not a racist family” while on a trip to a school in East London.

The TV host also claimed that she had been informed Harry had spoken to Prince Charles and Prince William since the interview aired.

“Well I’m not trying to break news, but I did actually call [the Sussexes] to see how they were feeling, and it’s true, Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too,” she said.

“The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive. But they are glad that they have at least started a conversation.”
