Harry and Meghan sue over ‘drone photos’ taken of son Archie at home in lockdown

‘Every individual and family member in California is guaranteed by law the right to privacy in their home,’ says couple’s lawyer

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have taken legal action after claiming that drones were used to take photographs of their son, Archie, at home.

According to a complaint filed in Los Angeles, California on Thursday, an unnamed individual obtained photos of the 14-month-old infant in the back garden of the couple’s home during lockdown.

Harry and Meghan are also pictured in the photographs, the complaint states.

The couple are suing under privacy laws in California that prohibit them from being photographed in their home.

“Every individual and family member in California is guaranteed by law the right to privacy in their home,” said Michael Kump, the Duke and Duchess’s lawyer.

“No drones, helicopters or telephoto lenses can take away that right.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are filing this lawsuit to protect their young son’s right to privacy in their home without intrusion by photographers, and to uncover and stop those who seek to profit from these illegal actions.”

The lawsuit states that the couple have been pursued by paparazzi for months while living in Los Angeles, claiming that some have flown helicopters over their home while others have cut holes in their security fences.

It comes as Meghan is in the midst of a legal case against the publisher of the Mail on Sunday and Mail Online over breach of privacy and copyright infringement.

Meghan is taking legal action against Associated Newspapers over the publication of sections of a private letter she wrote to her estranged father, Thomas Markle.

Associated Newspapers denies the Duchess’s claims.
