From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall have shared a new photograph of themselves on social media to celebrate the start of spring.

On Saturday, the couple posted a photo to their Clarence House Twitter account showing themselves in the garden at Highgrove, surrounded by flowers.

In the image, Prince Charles is pictured in a pair of beige trousers and a blue collared shirt with a tweed blazer.

Camilla, meanwhile, is pictured wearing a black puffer jacket and black trousers.

The duchess is also photographed holding a bouquet of flowers.

“Wishing you a happy and healthy first day of spring,” the caption reads.

The post has been liked more than 4,000 times and garnered hundreds of comments from fans of the couple.

“OH. MY. GOODNESS. This is the cutest thing ever They are so sweet, I can’t... Thanks for sharing and a very happy first day of spring to you, too,” wrote one person.

Another added: “Beautiful photograph. May you both enjoy a lovely weekend and first day of Spring x.”

The post comes one week after Buckingham Palace issued a response to the bombshell Oprah interview in which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a series of allegations about their time in the royal family.

In the two-hour interview, it was claimed that while Meghan was pregnant with her son, Archie, there were “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born”.

The palace statement in response read: ““The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”
