The Duchess of Sussex gave birth to her son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor at the private Portland Hospital in Westminster, his birth certificate has revealed.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their first child on Monday 6 May.
The couple announced the news via a picture of the words "It's a boy" on their official Instagram account @SussexRoyal.
The caption read: "We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz."
Speaking from St George's Hall at Windsor Castle two days after the birth, the Duchess said: "It's magic, it's pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I'm really happy."
Meghan added that her two-day old son "has the sweetest temperament" and is "really calm".
Prior to the birth of their son, whose middle name, Harrison, means "son of Harry," Prince Harry and Meghan announced that they would not be posing for photographs with their newborn immediately after the birth.
Instead, the royal couple said they had "taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private”.
News that the Duchess gave birth in London comes after speculations that she had opted for a home delivery in Frogmore House, Windsor.
On the birth certificate, Meghan's occupation is listed as "Princess of the United Kingdom".
A spokesman for The Portland Hospital said: "Huge congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of baby Archie.
