In an interview discussing the task of raising children later in life, Ms Ekland also questioned Mr Stewart’s ability to be a hands-on father at the age of 75.
The former Bond girl, 77, said she “sincerely doubts” Mr Stewart changed his children’s nappies when commenting on her former partner being a new father in his 60s.
Rocker Stewart, now married to model Penny Lancaster, 49, has eight children by five different women.
Two of those children, Alastair, 14, and Aiden, 9, were conceived with Ms Lancaster between 2005 and 2011.
“My son and his wife split all the childcare but I don’t think men in Britain do that – especially not those with much younger wives,” Ms Ekland told the Radio Times.
Ekland, a mother-of-three who had a two-year relationship with Stewart from 1975 to 1977, said it was more difficult for women to raise children at an older age.
She added: “It’s harder for women, of course. I was 46 when I had my last child. I really pushed the limits on that.
“Do I envy my ex Rod Stewart for being able to have babies in his 60s? I sincerely doubt he changes nappies”.
“Once women are past 50, it’s over. It’s still a man’s world. That’s what makes money.”
Earlier this year, Ekland also suggested the Maggie May singer wore her underwear and made her pay for rent despite his wealth.
Recalling their relationship, Ekland added: “I had to pay $100-a-month (£80) board and lodgings when I was living with him.
“I’d go shopping with him and watch him buy clothes from Yves Saint Laurent but nothing for me.”
In 1981, the Swedish actress claimed that she ended her relationship with Stewart because he had been unfaithful.
Stewart has not responded to the claims
Ekland, who was the Bond girl in The Man with the Golden Gun, is currently travelling around India for the new series of the BBC programme Real Marigold Hotel.
