From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z surprised the world by dropping a joint album titled Everything Is Love - their first record together.

Released on Tidal during their On The Run II tour, the album confirms rumours that the pair had been working together on a joint project.

In November 2017, Jay-Z told the New York Times that they had started working on something as they produced their respective albums 4:44 and Lemonade.

“We were using our art almost like a therapy session,” he said. “And we started making music together.”

While the duo addressed some of their most intimate moments on 2016’s Lemonade and 2017’s 4:44, Everything is Love continues to delve further into their personal lives.

Here are some of the album’s most talked about lyrics so far.

"I said no to the Super Bowl/ You need me, I don't need you/ Every night we in the end zone/ Tell the NFL we in stadiums too"

On "Apes***," Jay-Z seemingly confirms rumours that he had been asked to play the 2018 halftime show, but turned down the offer.

"Cause my success can’t be quantified/ If I gave two f****, two f**** about streaming numbers/ Would’ve put 'Lemonade' up on Spotify/ F*** you, f*** you"

Beyoncé seemingly addresses her decision to keep Lemonade as a Tidal exclusive on "Nice."

“I ain't going to nobody for nothing when me and my wife beefing/I don't care if the house on fire, I'm dying, nigga, I ain't leaving/Ty Ty take care of my kids, after he done grieving/If ya'll don't understand that, we ain't meant to be friends.”

Hov seems to respond to his fallout with Kanye West, after his "Watch the Throne" collaborator expressed disappointment that Beyonce and Jay Z didn't attend his 2014 wedding to Kim Kardashian, and speculated that it was because they were dealing with their own marriage issues. More background on that here.

"My great-great-grandchildren already rich/ That’s a lot of brown children on your Forbes list"

Beyonce has consistently been ranked among the most successful female artists in the world by Forbes, while her husband Jay Z recently topped the list of richest hip hop stars.

"For the thousandth time, the kid ain’t mine / Online they call me Dad, kiddingly / You’re not supposed to take this dad thing literally"

On "Heard About Us," Jay-Z is likely referencing his alleged "love child," 23-year-old Rymir Satterthwaite.

"You did some things to me / Boy you do some things to me / But love is deeper than your pain and I believe you can change"

"LoveHappy" seemingly shows Beyoncé commenting on her husband's indiscretions and how they moved forward as a couple.

"Tell the Grammys f*** that 0 for 8 shit/ Have you ever seen the crowd goin' apes***?”

On "Apes****," Jay-Z calls out the 2018 Grammy Awards where he received eight nominations, the most out of any nominee, however he did not take home any awards.
