Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Brompton Bay, Chelsea's newest "lifestyle" restaurant in Draycott Avenue, is the ultimate in Mediterranean chic.

It is designed to cater for anyone looking for simple, delicious rustic Mediterranean food at reasonable prices - and is bound to be the place to be seen this year.

Visitors can choose between three dining areas - the lively bar, the elegant main restaurant looking onto the hubbub of Chelsea, or through a gold-leafed archway in the tranquil conservatory. Reservations: 0171-225 2500.

The Information has three meals for two to give away at Brompton Bay including Taittinger champagne (excluding Valentine's weekend).

To enter, send your name, address (including postcode) and phone number on a postcard to: Shandwick, 3 Grosvenor Gardens, London SW1W 0BD. Closing date for entries is Monday 18 January 1999. The first cards to be drawn after the closing date will win.
