From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have named their fourth child Psalm West.
The 38-year-old mother of four posted a screenshot of a text message she had sent to Kanye on Instagram.
The message read: “Beautiful Mother’s Day with the arrival of our fourth child we are blessed beyond measure we have everything we need.”
The words were accompanied by a picture of the newborn baby, with the caption simply reading “Psalm West”.
Psalm West was born on 9 May weighing 6 pounds and 9 ounces, according to a representative for Kim Kardashian.
Psalm is the youngest of the West children, following one-year-old Chicago West, 3-year-old Saint and 5-year-old North.
The newest addition to the family was born to a surrogate mother, but not the same woman who gave birth to Chicago, the couple's third child.
As with their other unusual baby names, the celebrity couple has been met with both criticism and praise for their choice on social media...
Others are being much more positive...
But there's another question being asked this time - how do you pronounce it?
And others have been asking the same question...
Seriously everyone is looking it up...
To settle any confusion, the 'P' in Psalm is traditionally silent, so it is said 'Saam'.
A psalm is a type of hymn used in Christian or Jewish worship, referring to the Book of Psalms in the Bible.
But, as with their other unique styles and tastes, perhaps the Kardashian-West family will decide it's said differently!
