From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have released a new photograph of their son, Archie Harrison, as part of an Instagram post to mark the end of the year.
In the photo, Prince Harry is seen holding his seven-month-old son by the water. It's not clear where they are, but the couple are said to have spent the festive period in Vancouver Island, Canada.
Both father and son are wrapped up in warm clothing, with Harry wearing a khaki outdoors jacket while Archie is dressed in a brown coat, boots and a bobble hat.
The royal couple included a series of images in the post, which appear in a slideshow video while Coldplay’s 2002 hit track, “Clocks”, plays in the background.
Photographs included in the post mark various highlights for both Harry and Meghan from 2019, including Meghan’s edited issue of British Vogue, Harry giving a heartfelt speech at the Well Child Awards, and the couple’s royal tour to South Africa.
In the caption, the couple wish their 10 million followers a happy new year.
“Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and thanking you for your continued support!” they wrote.
“We’ve loved meeting so many of you from around the world and can’t wait to meet many more of you next year.
“We hope 2020 brings each of you health and continued happiness.”
The couple added a “special thank you” to Coldplay and the band’s lead singer, Chris Martin, for allowing them to use the track for their post.
