Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

There's good news for anyone who missed out on tickets for V98 in Chelmsford next month. Though the event - which takes place on 22 and 23 Aug and boasts headlining sets from both The Verve and The Charlatans - is sold out, one of its sponsors, Tommy Jeans, has given us a pair of VIP tickets for the whole festival to give away. Also featuring in this year's line-up at Hylands Park are Seahorses, Texas, Green Day, Space, Iggy Pop, Robbie Williams, James and Chumbawamba. Tommy Jeans's role at V98 includes sponsoring a celebrity five-a-side football match, starring Bob Mortimer, Keith Allen, Dodgy and Goldie, and giving each V98 artist a Tommy Jeans goody bag containing a pair of jeans, a Tommy T-shirt and an exclusively designed Tommy bag.

One overall winner will receive the tickets, plus a Tommy Jeans goody bag as described above. Four runners-up will each win a goody bag. For a chance to win, name The Verve's previous album to Urban Hymns. Send your answer on a postcard, including your name, address and daytime phone no, to: FFI, 18-24 Westbourne Grove, London W2 5RH by 7 Aug. First correct entries pulled from the hat will win. Usual Independent Newspapers rules apply.
