With constantly changing beauty standards, Dr Lancer has to stay on top of the look of the moment - so he can successfully give it to his clients, who include Kim Kardashian West, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, and Margot Robbie.
In an interview with THR, Dr Lancer shared Hollywood’s most popular procedures and products - and how he feels being the “only remaining dermatologist on earth,” a title he’s given himself as everyone relies on cosmetic surgery instead.
According to Dr Lancer, invasive surgeries and results that look “done” are out - with minimally-invasive procedures now comprising 90 per cent of cosmetic procedures.
Popular cosmetic procedures Botox and liposuction are still “number one in terms of cosmetic procedures,” but now people are getting “mini Babytox dosages” and “mini liposculpting.”
Instead of liposculpting an entire six-pack of abs, celebrities are now opting for smaller areas such as the fat underneath their chins, according to Dr Lancer.
This means that butt implants, made popular by the Kardashian family’s enviable bottoms, are also outdated - “The fad of gigantic butt augmentation is on its way out; people wanting distortion of their rear end is in its last death throes,” he said.
The replacement? Lifted noses and fuller earlobes.
According to Dr Lancer, fillers to turn up the tip of the nose and earlobe injections are all becoming increasingly popular as people look for the newest ways to combat the appearance of ageing.
Plastic surgeon Dr Jeffrey Rockmore confirmed the popularity of the earlobe procedure.
“As we age, our earlobes continue to grow and this can contribute to an older look for some men and women. In some cases, they deflate as well. This can be improved by grafting fat into the lobes to make them more full and youthful looking,” he told The Independent.
Additionally, women are now having their cleavage “micro-needled” - a trend that has risen in popularity in the last few months, according to Dr Lancer.
Micro-needling involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles, which stimulates collagen and elastin production.
Apart from firming the skin of the decolletage and reducing cleavage lines, radiofrequency micro-needling also brings up “the nipple projection about two to three millimetres.”
The trend isn’t restricted to the Hollywood elite either - Dr Lancer revealed that younger clients who wear open necklines to the “verge of craziness” are also opting for the procedure.
But it isn’t just women who are seeking Dr Lancer’s expertise - men are increasingly looking to enhance their appearances.
According to Dr Lancer, who has a men’s skincare line with Ryan Seacrest, “Polished by Dr Lancer”, “five years ago, men were one in 20 patients getting cosmetic surgery; now it’s more like one in eight.”
With a renewed focus on the “natural look,” popular plastic surgery procedures are now the ones that offer subtle results.
"Nonsurgical treatments are certainly skyrocketing. Patients don’t want to deal with the downtime and costs associated with surgical procedures so they will look to alternatives like Coolculpting, Ultherapy, non-surgical Brazilian butt lifts, no-knife neck lifts or liquid nose jobs, etc. New injectables are becoming available all the time, and the demand continues to grow as people become familiar with the natural results that can be obtained," said Dr Rockmore.
