From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Eric Stagno, a 34-year-old man from Massachusetts reportedly walked around naked in the Plaistow, New Hampshire gym before contorting himself into yoga poses in front of the mirrored wall.
After gym staff called the police, Stagno was arrested - but not before he pointed out to police that he thought the gym was a “judgement free zone.”
According to police captain Brett Morgan, who spoke to WBZ-TV, Stagno’s nude yoga made other gym members feel “disgusted,” “sick,” and “unsafe” - and went against the gym’s policy, despite how Stagno may have interpreted the slogan.
The 34-year-old was charged with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct and has been released on bail.
On social media, the response to the man’s workout has been mixed - with many defending Stagno.
“I mean… man does have a point. I go to Planet Fitness and it says right up on the wall in big, bright letters… under which I can only assume he was doing his naked yoga,” one person tweeted.
However, while the gym does not judge its clients, it does require them to wear proper workout attire.
In the Planet Fitness rules and regulations, it states: “Suitable & appropriate exercise clothing must be worn at all times while exercising in a club.”
