US rapper, comedian and actor Awkwafina proved that even stars need a spot of Dutch courage from time to time.
The Crazy Rich Asians star was attending the Oscars for the very first time when she took a swig of tequila on the red carpet.
The star stopped to chat with Guillermo, US talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel’s bodyguard.
Guillermo handed Awkwafina the sparkly clutch handbag, which doubled up as a flask, before she took a swig and handed it back with thanks.
People were delighted at the relatable move from the New Yorker.
“Awkwafina casually taking a swig of tequila out of her fancy #oscars clutch is just *chefs kiss*," said one viewer.

Awkwafina, who was also presenting at the star-studded event, told one interviewer about the moment she knew she’d "made it".
Speaking to Ryan Seacrest, Awkwafina described the moment when her name came up as an answer to a question on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. “I screamed! I screamed one scream that went on for like five to six minutes. I was incorrigible. I couldn’t believe it,” she said.
The question a contestant was asked was, “With a name sounding like a bottled water brand, what rapper and comedian starred in 2018’s Ocean’s 8 and Crazy Rich Asians?”
Awkwafina was also applauded for her presenting efforts with stand-up comedian John Mulaney, with many calling for the pair to present next year’s ceremony.
“OMGOMGOMG hear me out awkwafina and john mulaney for hosts next year #oscars,” said one fan.
“Awkwafina and Mulaney 2020 Oscars y’all make it happen," commented one viewer.
"Awkwafina and John Mulaney is the only buddy cop show I've ever wanted #Oscars," said another.
