Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

THE OU is seeking enthusiastic and articulate OU graduates and students to help with its telephone fundraising campaign for Spring.

The role is to contact OU graduates to raise funds for a number of initiatives that will benefit OU students.

This will be the sixth similar project. Recent campaigns have been highly successful, and the graduates and students on the calling team all enjoyed being involved. Many of them will be joining the team again for the 2000 campaign.

Paid training will be provided for each caller, supplemented with professional supervision. The calls will be made from a calling centre in London EC2.

Working hours are 6pm to 9pm, Monday to Friday. Week-end shifts are also available. Rates of pay are pounds 7 per hour.

The Open University mounts fundraising campaigns throughout the year, and is always looking for prospective callers including those who may not be able to help in the next campaign but could be available in the future.

If you are an OU student or graduate and would like to be considered for a position on the calling team for this year's or future fundraising campaigns, please contact Matt Staples on 01908 655695 for further information and an informal discussion.
