Olivia Colman has debuted a new blonde hairdo on the Oscars red carpet to the surprise and excitement of fans.

On Sunday, the actress arrived at the 92nd annual Academy Awards in a blue velvet gown with a draped cape, statement shoulders and a bejewelled clutch.

However, it was Colman’s hair, dyed from her usual dark brown to a light ashy blonde, that has people praising her Oscar’s look.

“Olivia Colman is blonde and I am crying,” one person wrote on Twitter.

Another said: “Olivia Colman showing up blonde at the red carpet saves the night, what a queen.”

Someone else said the actress’s new style was enough to encourage them to dye their own hair blonde as well.

“Been thinking about going blonde,” they tweeted. “Saw Olivia Colman is blonde now. That’s my sign. Legend. I love her so much."

Last year, after winning Best Actress for her role in The Favourite, Colman said during her acceptance speech: "This is genuinely quite stressful."
