On Saturday, the Big Little Lies star posted two images on Instagram of her reuniting with her 80-year-old mother, Janelle Kidman, in Australia after eight months apart.
In the photos, Kidman can be seen smiling and holding her mother tightly as the pair embrace.
“Feels so good to be able to hug my mum! It’s been 8 months,” Kidman captioned the post.
“I missed her 80th birthday but I’m here now. Love you Mumma.”
Many of the actor’s famous friends commented on the post, including singer Kylie Minogue who shared a series of love heart emojis.
Kidman’s Big Little Lies co-star Reese Witherspoon also wrote: “This brings me so much joy ! love to you both,” while actor Natalie Portman added: “I’m so happy for you!”
Fans were also quick to comment on the post, with one writing: “This is truly beautiful.”
Another person commented: “I'm sure your mum loved it as much as you did. Mum hugs are the best.”
The Hours star has been self-isolating at her home in Nashville, Tennessee, during the coronavirus pandemic, with her husband, Keith Urban, and their daughters Sunday, 12, and Faith, nine.
The family flew out to Australia in July so that Kidman could begin working on her new series, Nine Perfect Strangers.
In March, Nicole marked her mother’s 80th birthday with a heartfelt Instagram post.
The actor shared a photo of herself and Janelle both laughing while sitting outside.
In the caption, she wrote: “Happy Birthday to my darling Mumma. I love you so much. This photo is so US.”
In May, Urban revealed that Kidman broke her ankle while running near her home.
According to comments made by the musician during an interview with The Project, the actor ran into a pothole and rolled her ankle, resulting in a minor breakage.
Speaking about his wife of 14 years, Urban said: “About five weeks ago, she was running around the neighbourhood, as she does, and just didn’t see a pothole and rolled her ankle and got a small break in her ankle.
“And so she’s been relegated to the boot for the last handful of weeks.”
Urban added that despite the injury, Kidman remained in “amazing” spirits.
