On Thursday, the Backstreet Boys singer announced that he and his wife Lauren Kitt Carter had welcomed their third baby, with the 41-year-old writing on Twitter: “We are proud to announce that our baby has officially arrived.”
At the time, the singer explained that the infant was still in the hospital following minor complications, continuing: “But as a parent knows all too very well, sometimes things don’t turn out the way you plan it.
“We have been experiencing some minor complications but things are looking a little better after the first night.”
After opening up about the struggles facing the family, the father-of-three also shared a photo of himself in scrubs to his Instagram, where he could be seen holding his head in his hand.
In the caption, the musician said that he is a “believer” and said that he was praying for protection for “mommy and baby”.
In an update shared on Friday, Carter, who also shares son Odin, five, and daughter, Saoirse, 18 months, with his wife, said that their newborn was doing better but that they are “not out of the woods yet”.
“Ok. So everything is looking better but we’re not out of the woods yet,” he wrote. “We have to stay in the hospital one more night. But Daddy and Mommy are watching baby like a hawk.”
In the Twitter post, Carter also expressed his gratitude to his fans for all the “love and support,” adding: “We see you.”
Following the positive news, the singer shared a video of the couple’s daughter, with Carter explaining that he had taken it before he and Lauren left for the hospital, and that he misses their children.
“Took this video of Saoirse before we left for the hospital. I miss our babies but we have to stay another night. We’ll be home soon,” he wrote.
The birth of the couple’s third child comes after they opened up about the unexpected pregnancy during an interview with People in January, where they revealed that they had previously suffered multiple miscarriages.
At the time, Lauren said that, before finding out she was pregnant again, she was “fully set on just having two children and I had prepared for that and made arrangements for that”.
During the interview, the 37-year-old also revealed that she did not realise she was pregnant until five and a half months, at which point she felt something move in her body and informed her husband they needed to visit a doctor.
