The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has asked wedding parties to please stay out of bus lanes after a video of a bride, groom, and their group walking down the middle of the street went viral.

Over the weekend, a TikTok user by the name amina.news shared a video showing the wedding party, dressed in black tie, walking down Fifth Avenue in New York City as a photographer crouched nearby to shoot photos.

In the clip, which has been viewed more than 2.2m times, the bride, groom and at least 15 members of their bridal party appear to block an ambulance as they stroll down the street, while also partially walking in the bus lane.

The viral clip made its way to Twitter, where it was shared with the caption: “Oh… my… god…”

In response, the MTA shared the video on its official Twitter account, adding: “ARE YOU A BUS?

“(Congratulations and we wish you all the best, but please stay out of the bus lane).”

The transportation agency wasn’t the only one to call out the wedding party for their behaviour, as many criticised the group for being “selfish”.

“It’s the selfish entitlement for me,” one person wrote.

Another said: “Is this real life? Did someone not mention there is a deadly pandemic happening?”

“They’re blocking a f***ing ambulance,” someone else tweeted.

However, according to amina.news, the ambulance driving behind the couple actually took the opportunity to congratulate them.

In a separate video shared to TikTok, the emergency vehicle can be heard telling the couple: “Congratulations, you can walk” over the intercom.
