Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The brand will join competitor Roll Royce in producing Chinese-specific versions of top-end models, in another bow to the growing importance of the Chinese automotive market. Its Continental GT Design Series China models are set to launch on April 23 at the 2010 Auto China motor show.
The models are to be the first Bentleys that use orange and magenta as accent colours, along with a new range of interiors developed for the Chinese market. A veneer of Amboyna wood, usually only available as a cost option on Bentley models, has also been reserved for the Design Series China editions.
The company is also to launch the Continental Flying Spur Speed China at the show, which will feature some engineering upgrades such as bespoke suspension and a quieter exhaust tuning.
Like most other automakers, the Chinese market is a key focus and one of the fastest growing for Bentley - its third most important globally, says to the firm.
Since the luxury marque entered China in 2002, sales have grown nearly ten-fold to 421 cars in 2009, a trend that continues despite the recent global recession.
Auto China 2010 is open to the public from April 25 - May 2, 2010. The press days are April 23 - 24.
