Mazda teams up with Recaro to create limited edition MX-5
Called the Sport Recaro, the new top-spec model is available in a run of 600 and costs £24,295

There’s a new top-spec model at the top of the Mazda MX-5 range. Well, there is for now, because it’s a limited edition.
Called the Sport Recaro, it’s available in a run of 600 and costs £24,295. It’s powered by the existing 2.0-litre engine and includes 17” alloys, black paint, a bodykit and a uniquely detailed interior featuring Recarco leather seats.
That might not sound like a very long list, but this is mainly just down to the rest of the range already being very well equipped. As well as the 2.0-litre engine there’s a 1.5 starter unit, and both are available in no less than five different forms.

Alloys and air-con are standard throughout. And by the time you get to the Sport Recaro, you’ve already gathered cruise, climate and sat-nav along the way.
You’d think that on an iconic sports car, the presence of five trim levels might be there to excuse a greedy top price. But no. At the bottom of the range, the iconic 1.5i SE will set you back £18,495.

That’s less than six grand cheaper than the Sport Recaro. Makes you wonder where they manage to fit all the various models in, really.
