From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.A high-performance new super-SUV is due next year that will out-perform current class-leaders such as Porsche’s 561bhp Cayenne Turbo S – and it’s a Jeep.
Boasting the same 6.2-litre V8 that currently pumps out 650bhp-plus in the Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcats, the hotter-than-hot new Grand Cherokee will also share its cousins’ evocative moniker.
It’ll put Jeep’s current performance champ – the 160mph, 461bhp Grand Cherokee SRT, which can sprint from 0-62mph in a mere five seconds – firmly in the shade, and also take on the likes of Range Rover’s 542bhp Sport SVR.
Scant spec details have so far been revealed, but upgraded dynamics and brakes are assured. Pricing in the Jeep’s home market will be pretty far north of the SRT’s $64,895 (c.£46,000).
