Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Based on the premise that consumers have unique opinions and experiences with cars distinct from those of journalists, the awards are outlined as "the first time Internet-savvy consumers have the opportunity to select their Car and Truck of the Year in one place at a site not dominated by manufacturer advertising," on the US-based website.
More than 10,000 voters from around the world have declared their favorites: The finalists for car of the year have been narrowed to the Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Taurus SHO and the Shelby GT500.
In the truck segment the Audi Q7 diesel, Ford Raptor and Chevrolet Equinox will vie for the people's prize.
The poll winners, as well as the choices from a panel of 12 web-based journalists, will be announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show, opening December 2.
Votes are accepted until 5 pm November 13 at: http://www.internetcarandtruckoftheyear.com/Consumer_Car___Truck_Voting.html
