Your support makes all the difference. You know that feeling when you wake up with a stuffy nose and just want to go back to sleep? It's usually an inconsequential symptom of whatever ailment you have caught, stuffy noses can bring your day down.
One mother - whose toddler was suffering from a very stuffy nose - has shared her homemade solution to the baby’s stuffed up nose on Facebook - and it’s gone viral.
In a very adorable - and very gross - video that's been watched by 18 million people and shared more than 227,000 times, the mother uses a needleless syringe to shoot saltwater up one of the baby’s nostrils, which results in a torrential flooding of boogers out the baby’s other one.
After each flushing, the giggling baby looks directly into the camera and smiles, even making a contented “ahhh” sound at one point.
The home remedy, which is similar to the Neti Pot - a container designed to rinse debris or mucus from your nasal cavity - seems to clear out the baby’s sinuses quite effectively - but is it safe?
According to the Facebook comments on the video, people have varied views on the safety of this method.
One commenter, a self-proclaimed children’s nurse, said, “This is not a safe practice. It can lead to choking and aspiration, which could result in pneumonia. But what do I know. I’m only a children’s nurse.”
However, another commenter said, “As a respiratory therapist, this is the bomb! Although most kids may not be so cooperative and may require some sort of containment system.”
According to WebMD and Baby Center, the method is completely safe for clearing a baby's nose, as long as it is done gently, as you need to be careful not to irritate the thin lining.
Other Facebook users were simply infatuated with the cute giggling baby girl, with one user commenting, “This is the cutest yet most absolutely disgusting video I’ve ever seen.”
Watch the video for yourself, but be warned - it is pretty gross.
