MILAN UPDATE
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The American designer Anna Sui held an early evening party to launch her new diffusion line, Sui by Anna Sui, on Sunday. Crowds of press and buyers pushed and shoved outside, thinking they were missing a show. But once inside the plush red and leather interior, the atmosphere was civilised with endless photo opportunities for Sui, as friends such as Naomi Campbell and her fellow American designer Lawrence Steele called in for a flute of champagne and a browse through the rails of clothes. The collection is being made under license with the Gilmar Group, which produces Iceberg and Cento X Cento - a line Anna Sui helps to design. The diffusion line aims to produce basics and classic items but with the Anna Sui twist. So a peacoat is lined with leopard print fake fur and a short satin dress printed with dancing figures. Sui's clothes are not known for their subtlety, but this collection included all the key elements for next winter's wardrobe, from the tailored herringbone tweed jacket to the simple black fitted dress. The collection will be available next winter. Inquires on 0171- 724 6777.
Krizia's party
Krizia is celebrating 40 years in fashion with a retrospective show at the Triennale di Milano. The show mainly concentrates on the Eighties and Nineties, with signature pieces suspended from the ceiling. The husband and wife partnership of the designer Mariuccia Mandelli and the business manager Aldo Pinto hosted a party to open the exhibition on Monday night. The label is now one of Milan's longest running.
