Your support makes all the difference. When Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, she looked beautiful and refreshingly natural - a feat that makeup artist Daniel Martin pulled off perfectly.
The choice to use natural makeup on the Duchess of Sussex for her wedding day was an easy one for Martin, who wanted to showcase Markle’s freckles.
And the decision was the right one - as Martin told InStyle that Prince Harry couldn’t stop thanking him.
“After the ceremony Harry kept saying thank you,” Martin said. “He was thanking me for making her look like herself.”
In addition to keeping the Duchess’s foundation light and airy, Martin ensured the look - and the wedding photos - were timeless by avoiding anything trendy, hence the lack of highlighter.
He told the magazine: “The last thing you want [is] to look at your wedding pictures and go, ‘Remember when highlighting was the rage?’ At the end of the day, you want to look like your best self.”
To capture the Duchess’s best self, Martin, a brand ambassador for Dior and the creative colour consultant for Jessica Alba’s Honest Beauty, relied on just a few key products.
For Markle’s face makeup, Martin used his go-tos - starting with a toner by Ren.
According to Martin, the prep before the makeup is especially important because “you have to get the skin to a neutral place so it accepts what makeup you put on top.”
After moisturising and smoothing dry patches with the Honest Beauty magic beauty balm, Martin turned to Dior Backstage Face and Body foundation - a new product from the luxury brand.
Judging by the multiple YouTube tutorials on re-creating Meghan Markle’s wedding look, it appears Prince Harry wasn’t the only one who loved the natural look.
