From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

One is a popular men's grooming brand that promises to aid seduction, the other is a polarising yeast-based spread.

It's safe to say that they weren't the first pairing anyone expected for an aftershave.

And yet, against all odds, Marmite has partnered with Lynx to launch a new body wash and spray.

As for the scent, the product has been described as made “for all lovers”.

It combines notes of white moss and green herbs with woody scents of creamy sandalwood and, er, Marmite.

Jamie Brooks, Lynx Brand Manager commented: “By combining two iconic legends that have shaped dating and breakfast culture across the nation, we have created a product like no other that is sure to get lovers and haters spreading the news.”

“We’ve created the scent for all the lovers, whether that’s Lynx or Marmite, but with the controversial nature of the spread, believe it also might help in keeping the haters at arm’s length.”

The Lynx Africa body spray and wash are both available in Sainsbury’s and Morrisons now and cost £3.65 and £2.84, respectively.

Marmite revels new peanut butter spread for UK market

The products will be rolled out across further supermarkets and pharmacies from 1 July.

News of the launch comes after it was revealed that Marmite was forced to halt production of larger jars due to a yeast shortage.

“Due to brewers yeast being in short supply (one of the main ingredients in Marmite) supplies of Marmite have been affected,” the company said on Twitter.

“As a temporary measure we have stopped production of all sizes apart from our 250g size jar which is available in most major retailers.”
