Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Marks & Spencers are bringing the Christmas spirit to gin fans everywhere, offering a light-up bottle of gin liqueur as part of their festive food and drink range for 2020.

Committing to the glitz of the yuletide season, the bottle will also include a 23-carat edible gold leaf, all for £18.

You can also pick up a range of music box-style shortbread biscuit tins (for £5 a pop), an embossed glass sweet jar (filled with treats, of course) and a cute selection of Percy Pig gifts, including a giant cuddly Percy.

Christmas shoppers can choose from a larger limited edition Percy (standing at 90cm tall, for £25) or a standard sized one (slightly smaller at 60cm tall, for £15).

This week, the brand has also launched over 70 Christmas lines into its stores, including 40 gifts. Its first “All I Want For Christmas” Hamper (£150) will offer 13 of this year’s favourite M&S food and drink products, which includes a Light Globe Clementine Gin Liqueur and a magnum of Prosecco. You’ll be able to pre-order this treat later in September.

Over 100 festive treats will also be available to buy later this month on M&S’s Christmas Food To Order site.

As part of its Christmas Trends Report for this year, M&S has found that 48% of people want to begin celebrating the end of 2020. Almost a third are expecting to order more Christmas food and gifts online this year, likely due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

“As a nation we’ve all been through a lot this year,” M&S Food’s managing director, Stuart Machin, said. “Our customers will want to celebrate Christmas and mark the end of the year with friends and family in the best way they can.”
