This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

The Independent is trusted by 27 million Americans from across the entire political spectrum every month. Unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock you out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. But quality journalism must still be paid for.

Despite the fact that men have been wearing makeup for centuries, society has deemed cosmetics a signifier of femininity for as long as we can remember.

From female-lead advertising to the horde of successful beauty influencers ruling the realms of YouTube and Instagram, this is an industry dominated by women.

But now, in a bid to change the way we perceive makeup, there is a growing movement amongst men who are taking a stand and proving that beauty doesn’t have to be gender-specific.

Embracing their passion for cosmetics, male social media stars are making their mark with millions of followers and a stack of brand collaborations between them.

But, who exactly are they? Here, we take a look at some of the most influential male beauty bloggers you should be following.

Working as a hairstylist in New York, James Charles grew bored when he began to feel constricted creatively and instead turned to the world of cosmetics. After posting a picture on social media his popularity spiked as he began sharing more and more makeup looks online.

Then, in 2016, the then 17-year-old made headlines when US brand CoverGirl announced that he would become their first-ever male spokesperson.

He continues to be a spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris, and has gone on to found the #makeupisgenderless campaign.

Known for his amazing transformations and collaborations with the likes of Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner and YouTube royalty Nikkie Tutorials, Starr delivers his tutorials with expert precision and humour.

He has also released not one but two collections with Mac Cosmetics.

Otherwise known as Manny MUA, Gutierrez began sharing images of his makeup creations on Instagram after giving up med school.

After gaining popularity, his fans begged for him to start a Youtube channel and he now has almost 5 million subscribers.

One of the biggest beauty influencers out there, Gutierrez has recently started his own makeup line called Lunar Beauty. The first launch is an eyeshadow palette called Life’s a Drag.

The youngest beauty blogger on out list, Reuben de Maid is just 13-years-old but don’t let his age deceive you.

The Welsh-born, self-taught makeup artist has in fact been wearing cosmetics since he was just eight-years-old and is a dab hand at executing Instagram-worthy beauty looks.

He has even appeared on The Ellen Show and got his break after singing on the UK version of Little Big Shots.
