Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Can ... cope. Believe it or not, the ex-Tear Drop Explodes frontman has never undertaken a solo tour. Dubbed "the Andrew Lloyd Webber of garage rock", Julian Cope puts on a pretty psychedelic show and seems to have acquired another identity of late: the Godfather of Welsh Pop. Tonight he plays Cambridge Junction, tomorrow Sheffield Leadmill, Wed Bristol Bierkeller, Thur Cardiff Coal Exchange, Fri Liverpool L2, Sat Edinburgh Assembly Rooms, Sun Glasgow Arches.

Succumb ... to "The Lure of the North". Iceland's been cool (you know what I mean) for a couple of years now and this joint photographic exhibition provides the perfect opportunity to see why. Andy Biggs's series "Markers in the Landscape" explores man's intrusion into Iceland's various natural habitats, while Sam Gardener and Valentine Schmidt record the landscape's stunning elemental properties, in black-and-white and colour respectively. To 27 Feb, Picture In The House Art Gallery, 61 Venn Street, Clapham Common, London SW4, 0171-720 0955.
