Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Known for its inventive bath bombs, mouth-watering creams and soaps sold in wedges that look like cheese, Lush has reached cult-status as a beauty store that’s quite like no other.

But, on the back of the announcement that the natural beauty mecca is set to launch a subscription service comes news that is sure to devastate Lushies everywhere.

Taking to Instagram this week, the brand announced that it would be bidding farewell to 45 of your favourite products this year.

What’s more, these aren’t the kind of insignificant items that gather dust on shelves for months at a time. Oh no, we’re talking cult-status, best-selling beloveds including Blackberry, the very first bath bomb produced in the 1980s.

Unsurprisingly, fans aren’t happy about the news but the brand has been quick to try to counteract any disappointment with the promise that new arrivals are on the horizon.

“As our inventors create products that are more effective, more eco-friendly or more enjoyable for our customers, we need to make room for these new inventions on our shop shelves,” the brand wrote on its website.

“So although discontinuations are always a little sad, they ultimately result in waves of innovative, creative products that will become your new favourites.”
