From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Entitled Looking for Adam - a play on his mother's name - the video is made up of shots Alex had taken of his mother doing her favourite things over the course of a year.
The heart-warming and often funny clip starts with Eva’s son Alex sitting her down to unveil the his secret project.
And potential partners are bound to have something in common with Eva, as she loves tennis, swimming, nature, skiing (both snow and cross-country), yoga, art, beer, cycling, travelling, ‘fooling around’ and taking care of her family.
Alex explains in the video: “My mother is single and she deserves a good man. For the last couple of years she’s been trying to find love and even gone on a few dates. But it just hasn’t worked out.”
“In my hopes you might be, or at least help me find, the love of her life.”
Alex invites viewers who think they or someone they know may be suitable to send an email to icouldbeadam@gmail.com.
“Where it goes from here, let’s just say that I hope that love is in the air. And if you’re the lucky man, then I guess we’ll be in touch," he says.
