From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

More than a third of people surveyed by a poll for the This Morning programme in the region said they had sex more than five times a month - but the Welsh are not so lucky with 14 per cent getting as much action as their northern counterparts.
The poll of 1,000 adults found that the average Briton has sex less than three times a month and almost a third said they don’t have sex at all.
The biggest group of people who abstain completely are in Northern Ireland - where 40 per cent say they do not have sex at all.
But despite this more than two thirds said they were happy with their sex lives. This was more true of women than men, with 70 per cent of women saying they were happy compared to 58 per cent of men.
40 per cent of women and 60 per cent men reported wanting more sex but said tiredness and weekly responsibilities got in the way.
A show insider told the Mirror Online: “As this survey reveals, sex is a topic This Morning viewers are very open about and these results could lead to a more regular sex clinic where viewers can get the best advice on the show and not feel alone with their intimate concerns.”
