Jane Fonda has revealed she once turned down the opportunity to sleep with “Sexual Healing” singer and R&B icon Marvin Gaye.

During an Q&A with The New York Times, the actor and activist shared insight into her past relationships, revealing that she regrets not taking up the soul legend’s offer.

In a “confirm or deny” part of the interview, Fonda was asked whether her greatest regret was that she never had sex with Che Guevara, to which she responded: “No, I don’t think about him. Who I do think about, and what is a great regret is Marvin Gaye.”

“He wanted to and I didn’t,” the actor went on to share. “I was married to Tom [Hayden]. I was meeting a lot of performers to try to do concerts for Tom and the woman who was helping me do that introduced me to Marvin Gaye.”

When asked if Gaye’s pickup line included the words “sexual healing”, Fonda jokingly admitted “I needed some but he didn’t say that, no.”

The Oscar award-winning actor explained that after Gaye’s passing in 1984, she discovered that the “You’re All I Need To Get By” singer had a picture of her on his refrigerator.

The soul artist died at the age of 44 after being shot twice by his father during an altercation at their Los Angeles home.

The Grace and Frankie star was also asked about her time spent with Marlon Brando, her co-star in The Chase, to which she replied: “Disappointing. But a great actor.”

It is unclear whether Fonda’s response is referring to a relationship with Brando, but the interviewer did not probe any further.

Fonda, a life-long activist, has been married three times, most recently to Ted Turner, the billionaire founder of CNN. They married in 1991 and the actor divorced him in 2001.

She most recently dated producer Richard Perry for eight years, but the relationship ended in 2017.
