Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik reveal daughter’s name on Instagram
The model welcomed her daughter with singer Zayn Malik back in September
Gigi Hadid has announced her baby daughter's name, four months after giving birth.
Hadid’s 62.9 million social media followers were quick to notice that the model, 25 - who shares her daughter with boyfriend One Direction star Zayn Malik - changed her Instagram bio on Thursday night to read "Khai’s mom".
According to a name origin website, Khai - which is already trending on Twitter - is of Egyptian descent and means "the chosen one" and "royalty or nobility".
The name also closely resembles Hadid’s sister, Bella’s, middle name, Khair.
Hadid’s Instagram post this week also revealed that they welcomed their daughter on 20 September, three days before the couple made the public announcement.
To mark the occasion, the model posted a black-and-white picture showing her kissing the baby's cheek. The couple have not yet released a photo of their daughter’s face.
"My girl, 4 months & The best kid", Hadid wrote alongside the snap, adding an angel emoji.
Hadid announced the birth of their daughter on Instagram in September, writing: “Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she’s already changed our world. So in love.”
While Malik posted a photo of the baby’s hand clutching onto his finger, along with the caption: "Our baby girl is here, healthy and beautiful. To try to put into words how I am feeling right now would be an impossible task.
"The love I feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, and thankful for the life we will have together x."
Hadid has since admitted that being a mum has opened her up to a “whole new kind of busy and tired”.
On returning to her modelling career in December, she added: "Would say back to work but being a mumma is a job like no other."
