Your support makes all the difference. This is the moment that a bride broke down in tears on her wedding day – after the voice of her late grandfather played out from loudspeakers.
Brittany Adkins had always dreamed of having her grandfather, Reverend Ronald Adkins, officiate her wedding.
But after he died in April 2016, groom Jordon Yost – along with the bride’s brother and sister – put their heads together to make it happen.
During the ceremony in Crab Orchard, West Virginia, the preacher asked the assembled guests to bow their heads in prayer.
Suddenly, Rev Adkins’ voice began to play over the loudspeaker, saying a prayer for the couple and pronouncing them husband and wife.
He then said the groom could kiss the bride. The powerful emotional moment saw the bride begin to sob, as her husband tenderly held her arms and rested his head on hers.
Brittany told HuffPost: “I immediately recognised his voice and started sobbing. Different emotions were racing through my head while trying to soak in hearing my grandpa’s voice.
"I was weak to my knees, chilled, but despite all the tears, I was smiling inside.”
The audio was actually from her sister Brittany’s wedding in 2015, which their grandfather had officiated.
Brittany added: “My sister, brother and husband worked together along with a few others to make this happen.
“Besides the bridal party and those involved, no one knew. Our guests, including myself, were weeping and the emotions and love that flowed through our ceremony was truly touching.”
A photo of the moment was shared online by photographer Sarah Irvin, who said: “I’ve photographed a lot of weddings and this was the most incredible moment I’ve ever had the honour to witness."
