Bella Thorne has revealed she doesn’t define love based on gender or sexual identity.

The actor, who previously considered herself to be bisexual, has come out as pansexual, explaining in an interview with Good Morning America “you like what you like.”

Speaking to television presenter Juju Chang, the former Disney child star said: “I’m actually pansexual and I didn’t know that. Somebody explained to me really thoroughly what that is.”

The 21-year-old went on to explain what the term means, describing it as when a person likes “beings”.

“You like what you like. Doesn’t have to be a girl or a guy or a he or she or they or this or that. It’s literally you like personality,” Thorne said.

“You just like a being.”

LGBT+ rights charity Stonewall defines the term as “a person whose romantic and/or sexual attraction towards others is not limited by sex or gender”.

This can include those who identify as transgender, non-binary, intersex and more.

Thorne is currently in a relationship with Italian pop star Benjamin Mascolo and she posted pictures from a holiday with the singer in Sicily last month.

Thorne, who found fame playing CeCe Jones on the Disney Channel series Shake It Up, was previously dating internet personality Tana Mongeau and American rapper Mod Sun.

Thorne opened up about the trio’s romance during an interview with Gay Times in February 2019, saying: “I don’t think anybody will really understand the bonds that I share with Mod or Tana.

“Yeah, we joke around about poly, but we aren’t in the sense that we don’t put a word, a box or label too many things. It is what it is.”

Thorne joins a growing list of celebrities who identify as pansexual, including singer Janelle Monae who opened up about her sexuality in an interview with Rolling Stone.

Take That member Howard Donald also recently revealed that he is “open-minded” about his sexuality and concluded that he “should” be pansexual.

The singer was speaking to fans in an Instagram Live video and explained that he is attracted to both men and women.

Other celebrities who have described themselves as pansexual include singer Angel Haze, Christine and the Queens’ Héloïse Letissier, Miley Cyrus and Kristen Stewart.
