From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.Ariana Grande has written a public message following the news of her split with rapper Mac Miller, calling him "one of my best friends in the whole world".
The "No Tears Left To Cry" musician posted a photo of she and Miller along with a statement about their breakup to her Instagram stories.
She wrote, "Hi! This is one of my best friends in the whole world and favourite people on the planet Malcolm McCormick. I respect and adore him endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form, at all times regardless of how our relationship changes or what the universe holds for each of us!"
"Unconditional love is not selfish," she continued. "It is wanting the best for that person even if at the moment, it's not you."
Grande concluded the message saying, "I can't wait to know and support you forever and I'm so proud of you!!"
The 24-year-old singer also tweeted a heart at the same time.
News of Grande and Miller's breakup was confirmed by ET on Wednesday, which described their split due to their busy work schedules.
The couple first became friends in 2013 and didn't go public with their romantic relationship until 2016.
When Grande returned to the states after the Manchester bombing, Miller was seen comforting the singer at the airport.
They later went onto perform together at the One Love Manchester benefit in June 2017, organised by Grande in response to the bombing at her concert in Manchester one month prior.
Grande and Miller were together for about two years.
Miller has yet to address his breakup with Grande, however last month he tweeted, "Very proud of this girl right here. Welcome back. We missed you. One of a kind" after Grande released her latest single "No Tears Left To Cry."
