The One Show presenter Alex Jones has revealed she is expecting her third child in a surprise announcement made live on air.
The 44-year-old mother of two has sons Teddy, four, and Kit, 22 months. Jones confirmed she and her husband Charlie Thomson are expecting a baby girl.
Jones made the announcement during Thursday (25 March) evening’s The One Show on BBC One alongside co-presenter Ronan Keating.
Keating hinted at the news, saying to colleague Jones: “Babies, lockdown babies. Do you have anything to add?”
Jones then began by saying it was a surprise for the crew and everyone working in the studio.
She said: “I feel really nervous all of a sudden. It just seems like a good time to share some news with everybody and the crew in the studio for the first time.

“Lockdown’s been anything but predictable, and we’ve had some really unexpected news, baby number three is on the way.”
Everyone in the studio was clearly delighted as applause rang out and Keating congratulated Jones and her husband.
Her co-host asked if they knew the gender of the baby and Jones revealed: “A little girl, a little girl!”
The One Show regular also shared the news on her social media, calling it “The best surprise ever”. Jones posted a sweet image of her family, with her eldest son holding up a sign that reads: “Coming soon… baby number 3.”
In an interview with Good Housekeeping in their April 2020 issue, the presenter had said she and husband Charlie weren’t planning on adding to their family.
She explained: “Charlie is adamant that for the sake of the planet, two children is enough. And I think I’m too old to have another child now, anyway.
“It happens for a lot of people and good for them, but we’re just glad we have two healthy children.”
