While her fanbase still has several months to wait until she unveils her latest album, over the weekend guests at the wedding of author Laura Dockrill and Maccabees guitarist Hugo White were treated to a surprise performance by the Grammy-winning artist.
Adele’s close friendship with Dockrill goes back to their school days, having both attended The Brit School in Croydon as teenagers.
During the wedding celebrations, which took place at the Mason’s Arms pub in London, Adele was filmed taking to the stage to performance hits including “Rolling in the Deep” and the Spice Girls’ “Spice Up Your Life”.
The singer also reportedly officiated the wedding ceremony, dressing for the festive occasion in a floral Oscar de la Renta skirt and a cream top.
Several guests at the wedding shared pictures and videos from the party on Instagram, including singer songwriter Grace Savage and musician Reuben Gotto.
In one of the videos posted on Savage’s Instagram Story, Adele and Dockrill are standing on stage singing Candi Staton’s “Young Hearts Run Free”.
“The way you grab that mic @lauraleedockrill. What a moment @adele,” Savage wrote in the caption.
Indie folk band Peggy Sue shared a video on Instagram in which Adele and Dockrill are joined by a group of friends on stage to sing “Spice Up Your Life”.
“These guys got married and it was the best and I love them,” the band wrote on the social media platform. “Thanks for having the wedding of dreams @hugowhitenoise @lauraleedockrill.”
This isn’t the first time Adele has played an important role at a friend’s wedding.
In April 2018, it was revealed that the singer married television personality Alan Carr and his partner Paul Drayton.
The 31-year-old shared a photograph from the wedding on Instagram, writing: “Seeing as the cats out the bag. I married two of my best friends in January. You know me any excuse to dress up.”
In September 2019, it was reported that Adele had filed from divorce from her husband, Simon Konecki, after three years of marriage.
The couple share a son together named Angelo, who was born in 2012.
