Fans of ITV’s hit show Love Island have expressed their upset after contestant Ovie Soko burst into tears ahead of Geroge Rains’ departure from the villa.
During Tuesday night’s episode of the fifth series, the islanders were asked to choose a couple to eliminate from the competition following Jourdan Raine and Danny Williams’ exit from the show the previous evening.
Sitting in front of the contestants at risk of leaving the show, Amy Hart and her partner Curtis Pritchard and Lucie Donlan and George, basketball player Ovie wasn’t afraid to show his emotions at the prospect of his friend, George, leaving.
Following a discussion with his partner Anna Vakili about who should leave the villa, the 6ft 7inch athlete burst into tears when she told her fellow contestants that they would be voting for Amy and George to leave the show.
Twitter users were quick to post their reactions to Ovie’s emotional breakdown, which saw him hang his head between his legs and burst into tears.
“Look at our loyal Ovie bussing tears over his friend 💔 we stan a sensitive and considerate King,” wrote one user.
Another commented: “Ovie is such a gentle soul.”
One tweeted: “Oh bless Ovie! Love him so much!:
“We love a King who’s in touch with his emotions,” added another.
Following Amy and George’s elimination from the villa, Ovie told Anna: “I’m suppose to be one of his only friends and I didn’t even fight for him.”
In the diary room, the sportsman added that George’s exit from the show “was a bitter pill to swallow”.
The pair’s departure comes after Amy’s decision to quit the dating show due to suffering a heartbreak over ballroom dancer Curtis last week.
According to The Sun, the former air stewardess told producers she did not wish to remain at the villa after splitting from Curtis, after learning that he had attempted to couple up with fellow contestant Jourdan.
