Amy Hart has delivered an emotional speech to former partner Curtis Pritchard ahead of her departure from Love Island, revealing that she wanted him to "find love".

During Tuesday night's episode of the show, the 26-year-old asked Curtis for a chat so that she could tell him that she was leaving the competition.

"I thought I was going to meet some nice people and I was going to date people," the air stewardess told the ballroom dancer about her thoughts prior to entering the villa, days after he ended their relationship.

"You turned my whole world around and turned it into some kind of craziness.

"All I've ever wanted is for you to be happy. And you're not going to be able to be happy if I'm still here," she said, as Curtis broke down into tears.

"I want us to be best friends and I want us to both find someone," Amy added, as she took her ex's hand in hers.

"I'm not going to be ready in the next three weeks to meet someone else," she continued, seemingly referring to Curtis' developing romance with fellow islander Maura Higgins.

"You will always put me first," she added. "That's why I love you so much."

Despite Curtis pleading for his ex not to leave, Amy insisted her decision was final before adding that their friendship was important to her.

"If we can't take a meaningful friendship from this, what was the point in the first few weeks?" she asked Curtis.

"I'll let you find whatever you were looking for. I can't heal living in the same house as you at the moment."

Amy concluded her heartfelt speech by promising the dancer that they will have the "best friendship".

"I hope you find someone who makes you so happy," she added.

Following their conversation, the pair gathered their fellow islanders around the fire pit to inform them about Amy's decision.

"When you love someone you have to let them go," she told the contestants. "My Love Island journey finished last night."

Moments after Amy revealed she had decided to leave the villa, Twitter users expressed their heartbreak over the news.

"I really wanted myself to stop crying but the tears kept on coming," one user commented.

"Why am I crying like I’m the one heartbroken," another added.

One user wrote: "Although Amy wasn’t my most favourite islander, I’m a mess watching her leave. You can see the timeout with the therapist has really helped and she’s decided to focus on herself. Leaving is 100% the best decision she’s made in there."

"Tears are streaming down my face at that. Too real," wrote another.

The news comes days after it was reported that Amy had decided to leave the show after Curtis expressed interest in pursuing a relationship with former contestant Jourdan Riane, who left the show on Monday with partner Danny Williams.

Earlier in the episode, fans of the show expressed their upset after contestant Ovie Soko burst into tears ahead of Geroge Rains' departure from the villa.
