Lisa Kudrow has shared a touching Instagram post to wish her friend and Friends co-star, Courteney Cox, a happy 56th birthday.

On Monday, the actor uploaded a series of photographs of herself with Cox snuggled on an armchair with two cocker spaniel dogs.

In one of the photographs, Cox poses alone on the chair, staring into the camera lens.

In the caption, Kudrow praised Cox for her generosity and loyalty.

“Happy birthday @courteneycoxofficial,” she wrote.

“My genius generous gorgeous grounded great good FRIEND I love you.”

Kudrow’s post has already garnered more than 1.6 million likes and thousands of comments from fans.

“That’s what friends are for, am I right?” one person commented in reference to the cult sitcom that both women starred in.

“I love this friendship,” fawned another fan.

So far, Kudrow is the only Friends star to publicly wish Cox a happy birthday.

Their co-star, Jennifer Aniston, famously broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest Instagram account to gain one million followers, a feat she achieved in just five hours and 16 minutes.

Aniston’s first post – a selfie with her fellow Friends stars – forced the site to crash after it garnered over eight million likes in less than 24 hours.

The actor captioned it: “And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM.”

A Friends reunion was originally supposed to be available by the time HBO Max launches in the US, on 27 May.

However, the coronavirus crisis, which has forced many programmes to halt production, has made it impossible to stick to that schedule.

The special episode will include some never-before-seen footage, such as alternative takes of famous scenes.
