Sir: As one who makes pilgrimages rather than visits to the Cuillin ridge and Loch Coruisk, your report (12 December) that regular overflying by helicopters is a possibility fills me with sadness and horror.
One point not made in your piece is that the sudden appearance of helicopters will distract climbers and will present a real hazard. Many sections of the ridge and its approaches are exacting and require deep concentration. Falls can be fatal.
The claim of job provision is disingenuous. I doubt greatly if there are any pilots or engineers currently resident in Sconser.
