Letter: Charles is a loving father

Fiammetta Rocco's report "Following in one's father's footsteps" (14 September) was illustrated by a photograph of Princess Diana which, to judge by the age of her children, must have been taken about nine years ago. You could have chosen a photograph taken less than two months ago showing Prince Charles hugging and kissing Prince William on his 15th birthday. This, however, would have undermined the tone of the report. Equally, Ms Rocco might have interviewed "young" rather than "old" courtiers who had worked with Diana and Charles. Last month one of Diana's private secretaries said it "simply wasn't true" that Prince Charles had refused to comfort an emotionally distraught Diana. Could we have more journalism and less repetition of stereotypes.
