The makeup mogul and youngest-ever billionaire announced the new collection on Thursday, which will be launching in celebration of her 22nd birthday on 10 August.
On Instagram, Jenner shared photos and videos of the beauty products, including lip glosses, highlighters, eye shadows and skincare products, which are all emblazoned with dollar signs and $100 bills.
However, in response to the collection, which includes product names such as “Money ain’t everything” and “Work for it”, many people have taken offence with the theme, and accused the reality star of flaunting her wealth.
“Kylie Jenner releasing a money-themed makeup collection in honour of her birthday is so… tone-deaf,” one person wrote on Twitter.
Another said: “Looks like Kylie Jenner is ready to make everyone feel poor and show off what it’s like being born into money again.”
Others asked why the 21-year-old, who was named the youngest-ever self-made billionaire by Forbes, doesn’t donate some of her wealth to those less-fortunate.
“How about you donate some of that money to charity? Making other people happy is the greatest gift,” one person commented.
However, according to Jenner, “the money collection is much bigger than what it seems” and she has plans to “give back”.
Speaking on her Instagram story, Jenner said: “We, I, am giving back. Actually, I do mean 'we' because we are doing this together. You guys are going to help me give back in a huge, huge way.
“All I wanted for my birthday was to do this money collection and give it all away.”
The reality star concluded by asking fans to “stay tuned” and explaining that she has a “special person” helping her with the collection.
“It’s going to be amazing. We are going to do amazing things,” she said.
According to Forbes, Jenner’s makeup line Kylie Cosmetics is worth at least $900m (£741m).
